A Microderm Plus is a four-step professional-grade exfoliation skin treatment. Which combines the micropeel and the microdermabrasion treatments. It reduces the appearance of dull, dry skin, reduces pore size and leaves your face soft, smooth and radiant.

A Microderm Plus is used as part of maintenance skincare routine to enhance the look, feel and texture of the skin. Microderm Plus is appropriate for all skin types, including darker skin types. This treatment uses the mildest form of chemical solution, so it does not bleach the skin.

At a consultation for a Microderm Plus, one of our experienced skin care experts will discuss your skincare goals, your current skincare regimen and your current skin issues to determine if a series of Microderm Plus procedures is right for you and your skin. Often times Vectra 3D imaging is performed to allow you and your skincare expert to view in 3D the sun damage, broken capillaries and overall appearance of your skin. This serves as a baseline and after completing a series of Microderm Plus treatments together with a home regimen we can evaluate improvements in the quality of your skin.

To prepare for a Microderm Plus you should not be using Accutane® now and have not used it within the last 12 months. Your skin should be free of an active herpes infection, open wounds, or skin infections.

A Microderm Plus begins with dermaplaning, a manual exfoliation technique that safely and efficiently removes dead cells from the surface of the skin. Then it is followed by a Microdermabrasion using the DiamondTome Crystal Free Skin Resurfacing system. The top layer of skin cells is gently exfoliated in a safe, noninvasive manner. Removing this layer promotes the growth of healthy new skin cells and can improve fine lines, sun damage, scarring and discoloration. As part of your Microderm Plus a mild chemical peel will be applied. The chemical peel resurfaces the face improving hyperpigmentation, fine lines and wrinkles as well as the tone and texture of the skin. Cryogenic therapy is then performed, which is an anti-inflammatory, antibacterial and “skin polishing” procedure that cools and refreshes the skin.

During the Microderm Plus treatment you may feel stinging and/or suction sensation. After the treatment, you may expect your skin to be red and shiny for one to two hours. You should not use products containing Retin-A® or Glycolic acid for three days following the treatment.

Microderm Plus removes the dead and dull surface layers of the skin, stimulating an increase in collagen production and rejuvenation. Many patients see improvements in the tone, texture, and color of treated areas when performed in a series of treatments. Microdermabrasion can also improve oily or dull skin, enlarged pores, clogged pores, fine lines and mild complexion problems.

Microderm Plus complications are extremely rare, but could include skin infections, cold sores, allergic reactions, undesirable color changes and scarring.
