Blepharoplasty Eyelid Surgery
Blepharoplasty in Tucson – Restore Youthful, Brighter Eyes and Rejuvenate Your Natural Beauty
Expert Eyelid Surgery by Harvard-Trained Dr. Christopher Maloney
One of the most common effects of aging is drooping skin in the eyelids and under the eyes, causing a tired appearance that may have you looking older than you feel. Blepharoplasty can improve the appearance of your eyelid area by removing excess skin and fatty tissue for a rejuvenated appearance.
Dr. Christopher Maloney Jr, and our team here at Maloney Plastic Surgery have extensive experience with upper and lower blepharoplasty procedures, and we can tailor your treatment to your aesthetic goals. Schedule a consultation with us to take the first step towards boosting your confidence and self-esteem.
What Kind of Results Can You Expect?
What is blepharoplasty?
This surgery removes dropping skin, bagginess, and puffiness around the eyes. Dr. Maloney can perform upper or lower blepharoplasty, or both to enhance the ‘openness’ of your eyes and make them look less tired and more youthful. These procedures may also be referred to as “hooded eye surgery” or “under eye surgery”.
Is Blepharoplasty Right for You?
You may benefit from this surgery if you have hooded eyes, sagging skin around the upper or lower eyelids, or bags under the eyes. Surgery can be functionally beneficial if sagging skin has impaired your vision, or it may primarily be performed for cosmetic benefits, as surgery will improve the look of tired eyes and help you look and feel more youthful.
What can this surgery treat?
Surgery can address a loss of elasticity in the skin around your eyes and improve your appearance and your field of vision. We might recommend this procedure to you if you have:
- Drooping skin around your upper or lower eyelids.
- Sagging skin or baggy skin around your eyes.
- Loss of elasticity around the skin around your eyes.
- Trouble seeing due to sagging upper eyelids.
How long will your results last?
While surgery does not prevent future aging, the results of the procedure can last between 7–10 years. Results may also be further enhanced when paired with other surgeries like a facelift or medi-spa treatments like Botox injections or cosmetic fillers.

Planning Your Surgery: What to Expect from Your Consultation

At this appointment, Dr. Maloney will review the surgical plan with you in greater detail, and you will both sign the surgical consent forms. An experienced member of our team will take your pre-operative photographs, give you your prescriptions and will review all your surgical instructions. Understanding the Limitations of Blepharoplasty
It is important to understand that while this surgery can yield dramatic results and make a significant impact to your appearance, it cannot address all age-related cosmetic concerns. This surgery does not address:
- Dark circles under the eyes
- Crow’s feet
- Fine lines or deep facial wrinkles
- Volume loss or hollows around the eyes
- Loss of definition of other facial features, such as the cheekbones
We can recommend other cosmetic procedures that address those issues, and in some cases, we can perform all procedures at the same time. Dr. Maloney will help you create a customized surgical plan to address your full range of aesthetic goals.
Preparing Yourself for Surgery
Preparation
We will give you specific instructions for preparing for your surgery. We will recommend that you have someone drive you to and from your surgery, and that you arrive with a clean face free of makeup, lotions, serums, gels, perfumes, or other products. You should wear comfortable clothes that are easy to get on and off, like sweatpants and a shirt that zips or buttons up in the front. You should not wear any jewelry.
We recommend that you quit smoking before any cosmetic surgery, because smoking can affect your healing and recovery times and increase your risk of complications. We will also ask you to stop taking anti-inflammatory medications, blood thinners, multivitamins, and herbal supplements before the procedure as they can increase your risk of bleeding.
Recovery
Most people need one to three weeks of recovery time after the procedure. During that time, your eyes will be swollen, bruised, and puffy and may ooze fluid from the sutures. We recommend that you take time off work and avoid heavy lifting and strenuous activity while you recover. Everyone is different, and your individual recovery time may depend on your age, overall health, lifestyle, and commitment to our aftercare instructions.
