Advances in aesthetic medicine technology bring exciting new possibilities for patients. One example is the Vanquish fat reduction system. It’s not surgery—it’s a non-invasive method of selectively reducing fatty tissues from treated areas. Consider talking to a laser expert about whether you’re a good candidate for Vanquish.
How Vanquish Works
Vanquish uses radio frequency technology. It sends thermal energy directly to the fatty tissue. This naturally induces apoptosis, or cell death. Note that Vanquish doesn’t harm healthy tissue. Once the fat cells are destroyed, the body eliminates them naturally. And the body cannot grow back those same fat cells. Once they’re gone, they’re gone for good. However, since remaining fat cells can grow larger, you’ll still need to follow a healthy diet and exercise plan.
Who Can Benefit from Vanquish
The Vanquish fat reduction system isn’t intended to be a primary method of weight loss. It’s ideal for adults who are within a healthy weight range, but who have areas of stubborn fat that do not respond well to diet and exercise. Good candidates for Vanquish are at least 21 years of age who specifically want to treat the abdomen and flank areas without undergoing surgery.
How to Prepare
Before having Vanquish, you’ll have a consultation with the provider to make sure you’re a good candidate. Then, you’ll schedule your treatment session. For about one week before and after your Vanquish treatment, try to consume significantly more water than you ordinarily would. This can help optimize the results.
What to Expect
The technician will ask you to lie down on the treatment bed. Then, he or she will position the equipment over your midsection. The equipment doesn’t need to come into contact with your skin. The treatment will make you feel warm, but it doesn’t cause pain. Afterward, you can return to your usual activities.
